We at MCCA understand that while we all face financial challenges, there are a number of tools and resources available to help individuals and families improve their credit and financial position. These services are available to all community members regardless of income or past credit behavior.Credit Building Workshops
No matter an individual’s current income or employment situation, there are always ways to help improve financial standing or suggestions to maintain healthy financial practices. Our credit building workshops are taught by a Certified Housing Counselor and are available to all community members. The workshop will review and explain the information contained in a credit report, the importance of improving and maintaining a credit score, and how this information will impact future financial options. The workshop will also discuss positive budgeting methods to assist individuals in evaluating their current options and areas for improvement.

Free One-on-One Counseling and Education
For individuals and families that have attended any of our credit building workshops and still have questions, we offer free individual counseling and education as needed. These counseling appointments will focus on the goals of the individual and will include a review of a current credit report. We will also discuss specific recommendations to improve credit scores based on the individual’s current income and expenses and develop a plan to help improve credit and financial position over time. We will also aim to provide needed referrals and additional information on community resources that may be of assistance. Individual Development Accounts (IDA)
The Individual Development Account Program (IDA) is sponsored by Mid Central Community Action, Inc. The IDA program encourages savings by providing participants a secure location to set aside money each week. Upon successful completion of program goals, MCCA will match participant’s savings up to $1,000 for two years savings and up to $500 for one year savings with a 2:1 match. For example, MCCA will match the participant’s $1,000 savings with a 2:1 match – for a total of $3,000 (two year program). Based on the individual’s goals, the savings must be put towards down payment for a new home (two year program participation), education (two year participation), or a new or growing small business (one year participation). Accounts are held at a local bank and savings may not be accessed until participant has completed all program goals.
