Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP)
PIPP Program – Percentage of Income Payment Plan – Phase I Extension
Starting this fall, Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) will be offered to all households interested in the program. The program is designed to have the State pay a pre-determined amount to the utility companies and the client pays a percent of their income to the same utility companies.
The benefits to this program are as follows:
- A set monthly, budget payment plan for your household which will continue for a year, based on 6% of household income.
- Monthly reduction of arrears, on receipt of PIPP payments from client.
- Case Management and/or other agency programs which will help you manage your energy costs
It is important to understand that PIPP will work alongside LIHEAP assistance for the current year. If you choose to discontinue PIPP or fail to make your monthly payments you may be terminated from the program, unless a payment agreement is made for the delinquent amounts.
If you terminate your PIPP agreement you will not be eligible to receive LIHEAP benefits until the next program year.
If your household currently has no income, you will still have a monthly payment and you must agree to come into our office to re-verify your income status every three months.
