CDV Group Services and Support

Countering Domestic Violence advocates will be facilitating support groups every Monday for victims/survivors of domestic violence from 6-7:30pm.  The focus of these groups is to give support and encouragement to other victims while in a safe space.  Topics vary from week to week and include but not limited to:  healthy boundaries, red flags, characteristics of an abuser, and self esteem.

Children (ages 6-12) are invited to attend with thier mother/guardian for a children’s support group at the same time and location.  The children’s support group will focus on self esteem, safety planning, healthy boundaries and expressing feelings through age appropriate group discussions.

Please call ahead for location and registration, 309-827-7070.

Our Countering Domestic Violence adult therapist will facilitate a 5 week support group on education/empowerment and pattern changing for adults.  This support group will begin on April 20th and end May 18th from 6:30pm-7:30pm.  A children’s “Art Expressions” support group will coincide with the adult group.  The Youth Services Advocate will facilitate the children’s portion of the support group and includes children ages 6-12.  This group will be held at Mid Central Community Action Inc. – 1301 W. Washington St. Bloomington, IL  61701.  Snacks will be provided to both adults and children.  This support group is open to the community.  All participants must register prior to attending the support group.  For more information, please call 309-828-8913 and ask for Kendra.

“When these strangers gathered, something happened – some would call it “a dynamic”, others “grace” – that allowed them to speak truthfully from the depths of their hearts and also to be receptive to each others truths, where in other circumstances they could not do either, and in this giving and taking, to begin to heal. What makes this possible and why it is healing remains the mystery and miracle of self-help groups.”
