Rate Relief
Mid Central Community Action, Inc. is partnering with IACAA (Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies), Com Ed and Ameren to provide rate relief assistance to people in McLean and Livingston Counties. A variety of assistance plans is available in each county.
AMEREN – CIPS/IP/CILCO
Bill Payment Assistance Program – grants of $300 to low-income electric residential customers who are between 150%-200% of the federal poverty level (monthly gross income of between $3,442-$6,884 for a family of 4).
Residential Hardship Assistance Program – grants of up to $600. may be provided to a residential household facing extreme hardship, medical bills, military deployment, family tragedy, limited income, SSI or SS disability, etc. Incomes up to 400% of poverty (gross monthly income of $0-6,884 for a family of 4)
Funding is limited at this time in both of these programs, however if you feel you qualify, please call our office to get further details and to make an appointment
Com Ed (Livingston County)
Residential Summer Assistance – Clients who applied previously for this benefit or who have an approved LIHEAP application will receive an automatic $30 credit on their electric bill sometime after June 1st.
Residential Special Hardship Fund – One time only credit applied to your Com Ed bill. Households must be connected to receive this benefit and be at or below 400% of the federal poverty guidelines (gross monthly income of $6,884. for a family of 4) and have a verifiable hardship. Grant will pay past due balances up to $1,000.
Power-Up – This is a reconnection program for clients who have not been approved for a LIHEAP benefit (LIHEAP application may be pending). Income guidelines are 200% of poverty or below (gross monthly income of $3,442 for a family of 4). The maximum amount for this program is the past due balance paid up to $400. Households are eligible once a year from the date Power-Up was last received. Please note: this program is currently out of funds, we expect additional funding sometime next year.
C.H.A.M.P. – Com Ed Helps Activated Military Personnel
This program serves families of active duty military personnel – Armed Services, Reserved Forces and Illinois National Guard. Applications with instructions are available at Mid Central Community Action, Inc. – Pontiac Office, 741 W. Washington Street, Pontiac, IL.
